Personality Traits and Innovativeness in Dynamic Environments The Mediating Role of Technology Adoption
Main Article Content
Abstract
Entrepreneurship involves creating something new and valuable through the sacrifice of time, energy, and the acceptance of financial, physical, and social risks. Entrepreneurs focusing on establishing start-ups must demonstrate innovation and implement technology to create effective and efficient solutions in a dynamic environment. Nevertheless, many entrepreneurs still struggle to implement these principles. Therefore, this study aims to investigate whether the Big Five Personality is a characteristic of entrepreneurs who are capable of innovating and developing their businesses in a dynamic environment by integrating the Social Cognitive Theory (SCT). Data for this study was gathered through a questionnaire distributed among students at Ciputra University in Surabaya, employing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) for analysis. The measurement instrument utilised a Likert scale to assess responses ranging from "strongly disagree" to "totally agree", with scores assigned to each level. The data collection yielded responses from 160 participants through a Google Form. The findings indicate that the Big Five personality influences technology adoption but does not have a direct impact on innovativeness, indicating a full mediation relationship. Additionally, the dynamic environment exerts a partial moderating effect on innovativeness.
